On Saturday, the AGF were honoured to receive the prestigious William Jefferson Clinton Goodwill for Haiti Award at the Haven Partnership‘s annual Haiti Ball. The award was presented to Gregory Grene and Timothy Perutz in recognition of the Andrew Grene Foundation’s microfinance and education programmes.

Haven showed this short film celebrating Gregory and Tim’s work with the Foundaion.

In his acceptance speech, Gregory spoke of Andrew’s dedication to helping other people, describing him as someone who had ‘made a choice to pledge his life, to offer his life if necessary, in the service of those less fortunate than he’. He described how the AGF began, and how it still is ‘a way for us to express, and to feel, [Andrew’s] love’. Gregory also spoke movingly of a note given to him by a student, which simply and honestly stated ‘Andrew did not die; he lives in us’, perfectly summing up how the AGF truly is Andrew’s legacy. You can watch Gregory’s full speech here.

Founder and Chairman of the Haven Partnership, Leslie Buckley, said: ‘It is a great honour to present this prestigious award to the founders of the AGF. Gregory and Timothy are continuing the legacy of their cherished brother and friend, Andrew, who was incredibly passionate about the people of Haiti. By opening access to education for young people and supporting women to build their own livelihoods, they are transforming thousands of lives in Haiti.’
